Recreation Update
The Kerrobert Recreation Board has been accepting donations from the community in memory of Gordon Meyer, thanks to the Meyer family. The donations will go towards future projects at the Kerrobert Swimming Pool, a place he frequented each summer with his grandsons. He was a strong supporter of Recreation and he is very much missed at our meetings.
The Kerrobert Pool remains busy with our guards double guarding on these super hot and busy days. Thank you to everyone for the positive comments and gifts to our guards and flowers to the Rec office! Thank you to our guards for offering quality lessons and safe lifeguarding and to our Town staff who maintain our equipment and our water chemistry. We have over 140 kids signed up for lessons and record number of visitors to public swim including a large number of out of town visitors. We are always striving to do our best and encourage people to reach out to the Rec office with any concerns or positive comments!
We have already been receiving calls to book ice for local and west central teams for the 2021 – 2022 season. Calls to rent the PCC have increased substantially and we encourage you to call if you have plans for the next year as days are booking up quickly. We also have calls to rent the Fairgrounds for family reunions and for summer ball games from out of town teams. Its so great to see the facilities busy again! If you would like to book at any of our facilities, please call the Rec office at 834-2344.
The Timeline at the Kerrobert Museum is nearing completion! Volunteers and our summer students have worked tirelessly on this project for the last few years and we are so excited to share it with visitors. The project is open to suggestions and new information that may have been missed. Please don’t hesitate to share important dates or artifacts that will help complete the timeline. Come take a walk down memory lane and enjoy the history of our area from Treaty 6 signing to the 100th celebration of Kerrobert in 2011.
The billboards in the Kerrobert Skating Rink and Curling Rink are an important way to help fund recreation in Kerrobert. Each July we send letters to those who have supported us in the past and who have a billboard up in our arena. The cost to put up a billboard is $500/year. Thank you to everyone who has and who continues to support recreation through advertising. If your business is interested in putting up a billboard, please call the Recreation office at 834-2344.
Fundraising for the Kerrobert Zamboni continues! We will have more information to share with you next week!
